Abstract

Laryngeal involvement is a rare manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus. The symptoms range from mild hoarseness to life-threatening respiratory failure. With its unpredictable course and multiple causations, this complication remains a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge for the rheumatologists involved in the care of SLE patients. In this report, we present a case of 49-year-old woman who developed hoarseness and dyspnea on exertion due to laryngeal SLE involvement. Three weeks later, the hoarseness was improved after taking oral prednisolone 30 mg daily.(Korean J Med
